Kambu Paniyaram

கம்பு பணியாரம் (Kambu Paniyaram)

Kambu paniyaram is a traditional sweet snack recipe. Pearl millet has lots of health benefits. This paniyaram can be made with Karupatti (palm sugar) or vellam (jaggery). I always prefer Karupatti for this recipe, the combination of kambu and Karupatti gives awesome taste. And also my hubby is a Karupatti lover, so I use Karupatti whenever I get a chance.

Ingredients for Kambu Paniyaram

Kambu batter – 1 cup
Karupatti/ palm sugar – 1 cup

Take Karupatti in a pan and pour 1/4 cup of water.

Switch off the pan and filter the Karupatti water into the batter.
Mix the batter until everything mixed well.

Keep the flame in medium low and pour a scoop of batter.
Fill each hole with the batter up to 3/4 level.
After 1 minute drizzle oil around the paniyaram.
Flip the paniyaram when one side cooked.
Drizzle some more oil around the paniyaram.
Cook the paniyaram until completely cooked.
Take out the paniyaram.

Serve the paniyaram as breakfast or snack.

Notes

Don’t add more amount of water to the Karupatti when heating.
No need to prepare one string consistency, just heat until Karupatti completely dissolved.
Cook the paniyaram in medium low flame otherwise the paniyaram will burn quickly before cooked.
