மீல் மேக்கர் கிரேவி (Meal Maker Gravy)

Meal maker gravy is a vegetarian side dish which is made from soya chunks and coconut, cooked with spices. This is simple and easy to prepare gravy. A very good option for chapathi / veg Biriyani.

Ingredients for Meal Maker Gravy

Soya chunks – 1/2 cup
Small onion – 1/2 cup (chopped)
Sesame oil – 2 tbs
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp 
Curry leaves – 1 spring 
Mustard seeds & urad dal – 1/4 tsp
Dry red chilli – 2
Ginger garlic paste – 1/2 tbs
Tomato – 1
Masala – 1 tbs
Chilli powder – 1.5 tbs (optional)
Pepper powder – 2 tsp (crushed)
Cumin powder – 2 tsp (crushed)
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Cilantro for garnish 
 Salt as needed 

Grinding Ingredients

Coconut – 1/3 cup (chopped)
Fennel seeds – 1/4 tsp
Cinnamon – 1 small piece

Directions

Soak the soya chunks in water for 30 minutes by adding salt. 
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal and cumin seeds. 
After the seeds cracked add curry leaves. 
Once the leaves pops add chopped onion, ginger garlic paste and dry red chilli.
Sauté them well and add chopped tomato. 
Stir fry the tomatoes until mushy.
Grind all the grinding ingredients into fine paste by adding water. 
Add masala, turmeric powder, pepper powder, cumin powder, chilli powder and salt. 
Mix everything well and add ground coconut paste.

Pour 1 cup of water and let the gravy cook for 5 minutes with lid closed.
Squeeze the soaked soya chunks to remove water then add it to the gravy.
Coat the spices all over the soya chunks. 
Pour 1 cup of water and mix well.
Cook the gravy again for 5 minutes in full flame. 
Now keep the flame low for 5 minutes. 
Oil emits now, switch off the flame.
Finally garnish the gravy with cilantro. 
Meal maker gravy ready. 
Serve the gravy with chapathi/ rice.
