பலாஃபெல் – Falafel
Falafel with hummus is a delicious, popular Middle Eastern street food made from ground chickpeas, herbs, spices formed into balls or patties, and deep fried in oil until crispy outside and soft inside. It’s a staple vegetarian option, often served in pita bread with fresh vegetables. It can be served as starter along with hummus.
Ingredients for Falafel
Chick peas – 1 cup (soaked overnight)
Onions – 1/2 cup (finely chopped)
Garlic – 7 cloves
Green chilli – 2
Cilantro – 1/2 cup
Roasted sesame seeds – 3 tbs
Coriander powder – 1 tbs
Dried oregano – 1 tsp
Baking powder – 1/2 tsp
Cumin powder – 1/2 tbs
Black pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice – 1 tbs
Salt – 1/2 tbs
Oil for frying
Ingredients for Hummus
Tahini paste
Chick peas – 1/2 cup (soaked overnight)
Garlic cloves – 2
Olive oil – 1 tbs
Lemon juice – 1 tbs
Salt as needed
Water as needed
Tahini Paste
Sesame seeds – 1/4 cup
Olive oil – 1 tbs
Garnish
Olive oil – 1/2 tsp
Paprika – 1/2 tsp
Directions
Prepare Falafel
Take onion, garlic, chilli into a food processor or mixer jar.
Give a little pulse and add all the other ingredients.
Grind it to coarse texture as shown in the picture.
Transfer the dough into a mixing bowl.
Knead the mixture for 2-3 minutes.
Make the dough into equal size balls.
Keep the ball in between your palm and press it to make patties shape.
Heat oil and fry the dough in medium flame until both sides are golden brown.
Take out from oil.
Patties or balls are ready.
Prepare Tahini Paste
Take Sesame seeds and olive oil in a mixie jar.
Grind the mix well.
Tahini Paste ready.
Prepare Hummus
Tahini paste is ready in a mixie jar.
Add garlic cloves into the same mixie/ blender jar.
Give a little pulse to blend the garlic.
Add the other ingredients and blend until becomes creamy.
Hummus ready.
Transfer into bowl and garnish with oil and paprika.
Serve Falafel with Hummus.
