தக்காளி சட்னி (Tomato Chutney with Coconut)
Tomato Chutney can be prepared with or without coconut. This version is using coconut. Since we are using coconut, the flavor is different that kids will love to have. My kids always likes this chutney prepared with coconut only. Here is the recipe!
Ingredients for Tomato Chutney
Tomato – 4
Shallots/ small onion- 6
Dry red chilli – 4
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Coconut – 1/2 cup chopped
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Urad dal – 1tbs (optional)
Oil – 1 tbs
Salt as needed
Directions
Take frying pan, add oil, mustard seeds and urad dal.
After the seeds cracked, add curry leaves.
Now add onion and dry red cilli, fry for a minute.
Then add chopped tomato and stir that until mushy.
Add chopped coconut and mix well.
Allow the mix to cool down.
Take the mix a blender and blend it well.
Transfer the chutney into a container.
Tomato chutney ready.
Serve chutney for Dosa or Idly.
Notes
You can replace the small onion with big onion.
You can use any type of onion except sweet onion for this recipe as it will spoil the taste.
If you want more tomato flavor reduce the coconut amount into half.
