ரிப்பன் பக்கோடா (Ribbon Pakkoda)

Ribbon Pakkoda is a ribbon shaped deep fried snack and available in many different varieties. The combination makes the tastes different. This is also called as seeval / cheeval / சீவல் and available in many sweet stalls.

Ingredients for Ribbon Pakkoda

Rice flour – 2 cups
Besan flour – 1 cup
Red chili powder – 2 tsp
Hing – 1/2 tsp
Sesame seeds – 1 tsp
Butter – 2 tbs
Hot oil – 2 tbs
Oil for frying
Salt as needed

Directions

Take a mixing bowl then add all the dry ingredients.
Melt the butter and pour it into the mixing bowl.
Heat oil in a pan and pout into the mixing bowl.
Knead the dough until everything well combined.
Add water little by little until dough get smooth texture.
Prepare the murukku press with the achu shown in the picture.
Make dough into cylindrical shape then insert into the murukku press.
Take a deep frying pan with oil and place that in a full flame.
When oil is ready change the flame into medium then add the dough through the murukku press.
After 2-3 minutes flip the pakkora to other side.
When bubbles stopped take out pakkada.
Repeat the process for the remaining dough.
Pakoda ready.

Notes

Don’t knead the dough too tight or too watery.
Adjust the flame if it takes too much time or less time to fry.
You can replace the chili powder with pepper powder for this recipe.
