சிக்கன் சாய்லா – Chicken Choila
Chicken choila is a famous chicken recipe in Nepal. This is my favorite recipe, when we were in California, I tasted this in a Nepali restaurant. I’m addictive to this chicken recipe, this is a great starter I ever tasted. They prepare this chicken in authentic style and I always prefer spicy option. This is enough for a mini lunch and a best option in Keto menu.

Ingredients for Chicken Choila
For Grilling
Chicken – 400g (boneless)
Curd – 2 tbs
Garam masala – 1 tsp
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Pepper powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1 tsp
Butter for brushing
For Chicken Choila
Garlic – 2 pods (shredded)
Ginger – 1 tsp (shredded)
Tomato – 1 (boiled in water then crush)
Dry red chilli – 5 (soaked in water then crush)
Cumin – 1/2 tsp (crushed)
Fenugreek – 1/2 tsp (crushed)
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Sesame oil – 1.5 tbs
Timmur/ black pepper – 1/2 tsp
Cilantro – 2 tbs (chopped)
Lemon – 1/2 (juice)
Green bell pepper – 1/2 (slight cooked)
Onion – 1/2 (lengthwise cut)
Salt as needed
Directions
Marinate Chicken
Clean the chicken and slice into thick strips.
Add all the tandoori ingredients except butter into a mixing bowl.
Mix into a thick paste and add chicken pieces.
Coat the paste all over the chicken.
Marinate the chicken for whole night or up to 6 hours.
Cook Chicken
Pre-heat the oven to 350°F.
Grease the skillet with butter using a brush.
Place the chicken on the pan.
Cook the chicken for 5 minutes.
Turn the chicken into other side.
Cook again for another 5 minutes.
Switch on the grill mode and grill the chicken for 3 minutes (if you don’t have grill option cook until coated masala cooked).
Prepare Choila
Heat oil in a pan and add garlic and ginger.
Add crushed tomato, red chilli and salt.
Also add the grilled chicken and turmeric powder.
Mix everything well and add crushed pepper, cumin and fenugreek powder.
Add the lemon juice and mix well.
Now add little bit of oil in a separate pan.
Add the green bell pepper and sauté very little.
Transfer the bell pepper into the chicken.
Sauté the onion very little and add this to the chicken.
Mix everything well and garnish with cilantro.
Chicken choila ready.
Serve the chicken choila as starter.
Notes
If you like more spiciness, increase pepper amount.
In authentic recipe, they don’t over crush pepper, cumin and fenugreek.
Don’t avoid fenugreek, that’s the main ingredient for the chicken choila.

Grill Chicken
Take a grill pan and apply butter Grease completely Place marinated chicken Heat oven in 350F and place pan inside Cook for 5 minutes Turn sides Let it cook for 5 more minutes Keep in Grill mode for 3 minutes Grilled Chicken ready
Prepare Choila
Take soaked chili in mortar Crush chili Boil tomato in water Boiled tomato Peel the skin off Smash the tomato Tomato puree Take a pan, add oil, heat in medium flame Add ginger and garlic pieces, sauté little Pour tomato puree Also add crushed red chili Mix well and add salt Put all grilled chicken Add turmeric powder Also add cumin, pepper and fenugreek powder Pour lemon juice Take a pan, add oil, heat in medium flame Add green bell pepper and sauté little Add it to the chicken mix Now sauté onion slices Add it in chicken mix Mix everything well Garnish with cilantro Serve Choila in a plate Yummy starter ready நேபாளி சிக்கன் Party Tray of Chicken Choila

Grill big chicken pieces Slice grilled chicken into small pieces Grilled Chicken
Prepare Choila
Boil tomato and mash it Remove the skin Cut garlic and ginger into small pieces Saute in oil for a minute Add cooked tomato puree and crushed red chili as is Mix well Add sautéed ginger garlic in to the mix Also add crushed pepper, cumin and fenugreek seeds Mix well and add lemon juice Add raw onion, green bell pepper Mix everything well! Choila ready
