Tres Leches Cake

பால் கேக் (Tres Leches Cake)

Tres leches cake is a sponge cake soaked in three types of milk. This Tres leches cake is originated from Mexico, tres means three in Mexican language. In a traditional version cake, they use heavy cream, evaporated milk and condensed milk. When we were in California I got several chances to taste authentic Tres Leches Cake, after that my family addicted to this cake. I could create the same taste in this recipe.

Ingredients for Tres Leches Cake

For Cake

All purpose flour – 1.5 cups 
Butter – 1/2 cup 
Sugar – 1 cup 
Egg – 5
Vanilla extract – 1 tsp 
Baking powder – 1 tsp 
Whole milk – 2 cups 
Evaporated milk – 1 can (12 oz)
Sweetened condensed milk – 1 can (14 oz)

For Icing

Heavy whipping cream – 1.5 cups 
Sugar – 3/4 cup
Vanilla extract – 1 tsp 
Bakery cherry for decoration

Directions

Pre-Preparation

Keep butter in room temperature for 30 minutes. 
Pre-heat oven in 350°F. 

Bake Cake

Sift flour and baking powder. 
Take sugar and butter in a mixing bowl. 
Beat them until well mixed. 
Crack the eggs and pour to butter mixture. 
Beat the eggs until fluffy. 
Add sifted flour little by little. 
Pour vanilla extract and mix well.
Grease a rectangle pan (9*13).
Transfer the cake batter into the greased pan.
Bake the cake in the pre-heated oven for 30-35 minutes. 
Insert a tooth pick and check whether the cake completely cooked. 

Soak in Milk mix

Slice the top bump portion of the cake.
Flip the cake and place in the pan.
Pour the three types of milk in a mixing bowl. 
Mix the milk with spoon or milk frother.
Pierce the cake everywhere with fork.
Pour the mixed milk little by little over the cake.
Keep the cake in refrigerator to soak with milk.
Tres leches cake ready.

Apply Icing

Pour the heavy cream, vanilla extract and add sugar in a mixing bowl. 
Beat them until fluffy cream. 
Apply the cream all over the cake. 
Keep the cake in refrigerator for 30 minutes. 
Decorate the cake with cherries. 
Serve the cake. 

Notes

I used 9*8 inch pan. 
You may use heavy cream instead of whole milk for soaking.
