இறால்65 (Shrimp 65 / Prawn 65)
Shrimp 65 is a tasty recipe and also my son’s favorite recipe. This version is very crispy and it’s easy to prepare. Whenever we go for shopping my son asks me to buy shrimp to prepare this recipe. It’s great to have this with any variety rice items. It is even nice to have with tea. Scroll down for WRITTEN recipe!
Ingredients for Shrimp 65
Shrimp / prawn – 1/4 kg
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Oil for frying
Salt as needed
Marinating Ingredients
Chilli powder – 2 tsp
Garam masala powder – 2 tsp
Ginger garlic paste – 1/2 tbs
Lemon juice – 1 tbs
Corn starch – 1/4 cup
Cilantro – 1 tbs
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Water as needed
Directions
Clean the shrimp then add salt and turmeric powder.
Mix well then add that to a pan and cook in medium flame.
Shrimp release some water, cook until the water evaporates (half cook the shrimp).
Transfer the shrimp to a mixing bowl and add all the marinating ingredients.
Mix well and marinate them for 10 to 15 minutes.
If needed add some water and mix well (see picture for consistency).
Heat oil in frying pan, when the oil is ready add the shrimp little by little.
Keep the flame in medium and fry until the bubbles stops.
Take out the fried shrimp and drain the oil in a paper towel.
Continue to finish all the batches.
Shrimp 65 ready.
Notes
Chop the cilantro, curry leaves and add it before marinating.
I used frozen cooked extra small shrimp here, you can use any size raw shrimp for this recipe. Make sure your shrimp half cooked before marinating.
Before frying the shrimp, check the consistency because if it is watery, it absorbs more oil.
