Mutton sukka is my 150th post. I am happy to share this recipe with you. Mutton sukka is always favorite for all mutton lovers. This Mutton sukka is my own recipe with mild spices. Easy to prepare recipe with boneless mutton. It’s best to go with rice and parotto, you can use this for kari dosa too.

Ingredients for Mutton Sukka

Mutton – 1/4 kg
Small onion – 1/2 cup
Tomato – 1
Dry red chilli – 5
Ginger – 1 inch piece (crushed)
Sesame oil – 3 tbs
Turmeric powder – pinch
Salt as needed

Spices to Grind

Pepper – 1.25 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1.25 tsp
Sombu – 3/4 tsp
Cloves – 2
Cardamom – 3
Cinnamon – 1/2 inch piece

Directions

Take a pan and dry roast all the spice ingredients.
Let the spices cool down completely.
Grind the spices into fine powder.
Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
Add chopped onion, dry red chilli, crushed ginger and curry leaves.
Sauté them until onions turned into golden brown.
Add chopped tomato and sauté until mushy.
Now, add ground spices, turmeric powder and salt then mix well.
Now, add mutton pieces to the mix.
Cover the cooker and change the flame into low.
Allow the mixture to emit oil for 5 minutes.
Add 2 cups of water and pressure cook the meat for 20 minutes.

Release the pressure.
Close the cooker with a plate or lid and keep the stove in low flame.
After 5 to 10 minutes the gravy will be thickened and oil comes out.
Stop the flame.
Mutton sukka ready

Notes

We are adding 2 cups of water before pressure cooking for 20 minutes. This is to avoid the mutton getting burnt at the bottom.
