மட்டன் குழம்பு (Mutton Kuzhambu)
Mutton Kuzhambu is a simple gravy suitable for rice as well as any tiffin item. This is an easy method to prepare. Today I prepared this gravy with ground coconut paste. This can be prepared with coconut milk as well and the difference in taste will be really huge. I like both and here is the recipe.
Ingredients for Mutton Kuzhambu
Mutton – 1/2 kg
Oil – 2 tbsp
Onion – 1
Tomato – 1
Ginger – 2 inch piece
Masala – 1 tbsp
Chilli powder – 11/2 tbp
Coconut – 2 medium size piece
Fennel seeds – 1/4 tsp
Cinnamon – small piece
Turmeric – 1 pinch
Salt as needed
Directions
Pour oil in a pressure cooker.
Add chopped onion and crushed ginger.
Fry the mix until onion turns to golden brown, then add chopped tomatoes.
Stir the mix until tomatoes becomes mushy; Add all the spices (Masala, chilli powder, pepper, cumin powder, turmeric and salt).
Add mutton to the mix and stir until all spices blend well.
Close the pressure cooker with lid (without weight) in a low flame for 5 to 10 minutes.
Grind the coconut with fennel seeds and cinnamon.
Open the lid of the pressure cooker and you can see some oil coming from the mixer.
Pour the ground coconut paste and stir well.
Now add 3 cups of water and adjust water, salt consistency.
Pressure cook (with whishle) this curry for 20 to 25 minutes in medium flame.
