Malaika Arora special Paneer Thecha recipe

பன்னீர் தீட்ஷா – Paneer Thecha

Paneer thecha is a spicy healthy traditional snack originated from Maharashtra. Recently Malaika Arora shared about her favorite snack of paneer thecha in an interview. After that my social media feed is flooded with this snack. I never heard about this before, so I wanted to try. It came out very well at the first try itself and my family members loved a lot.

Ingredients for Paneer Thecha

Paneer – 200g
Garlic – 8 pods or 4 fat pods
Green chilli – 4
Roasted Peanuts – 1/4 cup
Cilantro – 1 cup
Salt as needed
Oil for pan frying
Drizzle few drops of water

Directions

Dry roast the garlic, green chilli, peanuts.
Transfer the roasted ingredients into the traditional grinding stone (Ammi).
Grind the ingredients coarse with adding salt.
Add the cilantro with stalks.
Drizzle few drops of water.
Grind all the ingredients coarse.
Slice the paneer into small pieces / cubes.
Coat the paneer with the ground spices.
Heat oil in a pan and add the spice coated panneer.
Fry the paneer in medium flame.
Cook the paneer until both sides turns to golden brown.
Take out the paneer.
Paneer thecha ready.

Notes

You may grind the spices in food processor or mortar and pestle.
If you are grinding in the mixie jar, use pulse button to get coarse texture.
Consistency of ground spice should be good, so that it can be applied over paneer.
Don’t use raw peanuts, if you’re having raw peanuts roast that separately in pan or in microwave.
