கல்யாண வீட்டு உருளைக்கிழங்கு – Kalyana Veettu Urulai Kilangu
Kalyana veettu urulai kilangu is a side dish for vegetarian food. This method is easy to prepare and can be easily made for large quantity as well. This method doesn’t loose the taste even when preparing large quantity. This recipe goes well with dosa, chapathi and poori. My son is potato lover and he is a big fan of this recipe.
Ingredients for Kalyana Veettu Urulai Kilangu
Potato – 4 (medium size)
Tomato – 1
Onion – 1/2(sliced lengthwise)
Masala – 1 tbs
Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
Oil – 1/2 tbs
Mustard seeds & urad dal – 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Salt as needed
Directions
Cook Potato
Slice the potatoes then add water and salt.
pressure cook the potato for 3 whistle.
Remove the skin and partially mash the cooked potato.
Stir fry potato
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal.
After the seeds cracked, add curry leaves.
When the leaves pops add sliced onion.
Stir fry the onion and add chopped tomato.
Add salt and stir fry the tomatoes until mushy.
Turn the flame into medium.
Add the turmeric powder, chilli powder, masala and salt.
Mix everything well and add the mashed potato.
Mix until the spices blend all over the potato.
Switch off the flame.
Kalyana veetu urulaikilangu ready.
Serve the urulaikilangu with rice and sambar.
Notes
Don’t mash the potato completely.
Adjust the chilli powder amount according to your taste and spice needs.
