இடியாப்பம் (Idiyappam)
Idiyappam is one of the famous recipe in south Tamilnadu. It is easy to digest and can be prepared at home easily. Here is simple and easy to make Idiyappam recipe! Scroll down to see WRITTEN recipe with step by step pictures.
Ingredients for Idiyappam
Rice flour – 1 cup
Boiling water
Salt as needed
Makes 4 big size Idiyaappam
Directions
Prepare the string hopper.
Take the rice flour in a mixing bowl with salt.
Boil water in a pan until bubbles come.
Take a long handle serving spoon.
Pour the boiling water little by little and stir continuously with serving spoon.
Knead the dough until smooth.
Make cylindrical shape of dough and place that into the string hopper.
Keep a small plate under the string hopper.
Press the string hopper and make raw idiyaappam.
Transfer the raw idiyaappam to idly plate.
If the water started boiling in idly pot by the time you close the lid, cook for 10 minutes; Otherwise cook for 15 minutes.
Serve the idiyaappam with coconut milk & sugar or mutton gravy or Sothi Kulambu.
Notes
Clean the string hopper properly, otherwise idiyappam won’t come out from all holes.
