Falooda
Falooda is a cold dessert with origins in the Indian subcontinent. It is a version of the Iranian faloodeh. Traditionally it is made from mixing rose milk, vermicelli, sweet basil(sabza/takmaria) seeds , often served with ice cream. Basil seeds help reduce body heat, control blood sugar levels, relieve constipation and bloating. Basil seeds also helps treat acidity and heartburn.
Ingredients for Falooda
Rose milk – 1 cup
Vermicelli – 1 cup
Basil seeds – 1 tbs
Jelly – 1/2 cup
Vanilla ice cream – 4 scoops
Apple – 1
Tutti frutti – 4 tbs (optional)
Mixed nuts – 4 tbs (optional)
Pre-preparation
Prepare vanilla ice cream a day before or buy from store
Soak the basil seeds at least 1 hour
Make rose milk and keep it in refrigerator for at least 2 – 4 hours
Make jelly by following the instructions in the packet
Jelly needs 30 – 45 minutes to form
Remove the skin of the apple and chop that into bite size
Cook the vermicelli with water till it becomes soften
Chop the jelly into bite size as well
Arranging Falooda
Take 4 tall glasses
First add the 1/4 amount of jelly in each glass
Add 1 tbsp of vermicelli to each glass
Pour 1/4 cup of rose milk to each glass
Add 1 tbs of tutti frutti and 1 tbsp of chopped apple to each glass
Now add 1 tbs of soaked basil seeds
Scoop vanilla ice cream in each glass
Sprinkle some chopped nut on top of the dessert
You can decorate the dessert with paper umbrella
