பருப்பு கீரை குழம்பு (Dal Spinach)
Dal Spinach is one of the best gravy because of its richness in protein from dal and iron from spinach. Kids who doesn’t want to eat spinach (keerai) will eat this recipe because this gravy tastes really good. It is very easy to make daal spinach and here is the recipe!
Ingredients for Dal Spinach
Toor dal – 1/2 cup
Spinach/ Palak / pasalai keerai – 250g
Small onion – 1/2 cup (chopped lengthwise)
Green chilli – 3
Garlic – 3 cloves (chop lengthwise)
Masala – 1 tbsp
Turmeric – pinch
Tomato – 1
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds & urad dal – 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Hing – pinch
Oil – 1 tbsp
Dry red chilli – 3
Salt as needed
Directions
Take toor dal in a pressure cooker and wash it.
Add turmeric, hing and a drop of oil into the pressure cooker.
Add enough water that immerse the dal.
Pressure cook the dal for 5 whistle in a medium flame.
Take a pan and pour oil then add mustard seeds & urad dal.
After the seeds cracked add curry leaves.
Now add the chopped onion and garlic.
Saute them until the onion turns into golden brown color.
Now add the chopped tomato and saute until mushy.
Add masala, Salt and mix them well.
Also add the washed spinach and stir well until that shrink into very less amount.
Add the cooked dal and give a good mix.
Cook the mix for a minute in full flame.
Turn off the stove and temper the red chilli in a small pan and pour it to the DalSpinach.
Serve Paruppu keerai kulambu with rice or chappathi.
