தக்காளி கோழி (Chicken Gravy)
Chicken Gravy / தக்காளிக் கோழி recipe is my mom’s recipe. This is one of my mom’s best recipe and she always prepare very tasty. Whenever I go to my hometown, I still ask my mom to prepare this for me. This recipe is good to have with white rice, Biriyani, chappathi and parotta. This is a beginner level recipe and need less time to prepare.
Ingredients for Chicken Gravy
Chicken – 1/2 kg (with bone)
Tomato – 4
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbs
Onion – 1 big (thinly sliced lengthwise)
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Masala – 1.5 tbs
Chilli powder – 1 tbs
Oil – 3 tbsp
Cilantro for garnish
Salt as needed
Directions
Cooking Chicken
Heat 1.5 tbsp oil in a cooker then add ginger garlic paste and chicken as well.
Add 1 tbs masala, 1/2 tbs chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt.
Mix well and cover the cooker with lid (don’t put weight).
Cook the chicken in low medium flame until chicken fully cooked (don’t add water).
Cooking Tomato Thokku
Heat the remaining oil in a pan then add onion and ginger garlic paste.
Saute them until the onion turned into golden brown.
Add the chopped tomatoes and sauté until mushy.
Now add the remaining masala, chilli powder and salt.
Mix well and pour 1/2 cup of water.
Cover the pan and cook for 2 minutes.
Cooking Gravy
Add cooked chicken to the tomato thokku and mix well.
Pour little more water if needed, cover the gravy and cook for another 2 minutes.
Change the flame into low and let the gravy emit oil.
Switch off the flame and garnish the gravy with chopped cilantro.
Chicken gravy ready.
