சிக்கன் 65 (Chicken 65)

Chicken 65 is a spicy, deep fried chicken dish originated from Hotel Buhari, Chennai . It’s a quick time snack and also kids favorite. It can be prepared using boneless or bone-in chicken and is usually served with onion and lemon to garnish. Chicken 65’s primary ingredients are chicken, ginger, garlic and red chilli powder. I am using a simple method to prepare with very less ingredients.

Ingredients for Chicken 65

Chicken – 1/4 kg
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbs
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Chilli powder – 3/4 tbs
Coriander powder – 3/4 tbs
Fennel seeds powder – 1/4 tsp
Besan flour – 3/4 tbs
Rice flour – 3/4 tbs
Curry leaves – 1 spring 
Cilantro – 1 tbs
Lemon juice – 1 tbs
Salt as needed 
Oil for frying 

For Garnish

Onion 
Lemon 

Directions

Chop the chicken into small cube size pieces. 
Clean the chicken and rinse with water.
Transfer the chicken pieces into a mixing bowl. 
Add all the ingredients and mix everything well. 
Heat oil in a frying pan and keep the flame in medium. 
Add the spiced chicken pieces one by one.
Flip the chicken after half cooked. 
Take out the chicken and place that in a paper towel. 
Follow the same instructions and fry remaining chicken. 
Chicken 65 ready. 
Serve the chicken 65 as starter/ side dish. 

Notes

Don’t over cook the chicken, then it will be hard to bite. 
Don’t add too much pieces in one batch.
Chop the curry leaves and cilantro before mixing. 
You may use red food color to get restaurant touch.
