எலும்பு சூப் (Bone Soup)
Mutton bone soup is my favourite dish. My mom is an expert to prepare this elumbu soup. Whenever I go to my hometown, my mom prepares this soup for me. She always tells me to take this soup at least monthly once to maintain good health. This soup boost our iron content and immune power. Please be aware that goat meat has high cholesterol, so if you have cholesterol issue, limit this soup intake.
Servings – 2
Ingredients for Bone Soup
Goat Rib Bone – 1/4 kg
Black Pepper – 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Small Onion – 10 (chopped)
Water – 2 cups
Salt as needed
Directions
Take a small pan and dry roast pepper and cumin seeds.
Crush the roasted pepper and cumin seeds.
Clean the bone and add that to a pressure cooker.
Add turmeric powder, crushed mix, chopped onion and salt.
Pour 2 cups of water in the cooker.
Pressure cook the bone for 20 minutes.
After releasing the pressure, separate the juice and collect that in a bowl.
Mutton bone soup / நெஞ்செலும்பு சூப் ready.
Serve the ஆட்டு எலும்பு சூப் in a bowl with scoop.
Notes
There is no need to fry the onion.
This recipe does not need oil to be added.
Sometimes we get ribs with meat. In that case, after separates the soup, you can use the leftover bone with meat for preparing mutton salna or mutton gravy.
Goat legs are also used to make a different variety of soup.
