பீச் சுண்டல் (Beach Sundal)

Beach Sundal is very popular snack sold in beaches. Now a says it is widely available in many places in Chennai. There is an authentic taste/ flavor to the Chennai sundal. Here is the recipe for the same.

Ingredients for Beach Sundal

Dried white peas – 1/2 cup
Mango – 1/4 cup chopped with skin
Hing – pinch
Small onion – 1 chopped
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
Coconut – 1/4 cup shredded
Oil – 1 tsp
Mustard & urad dal – 1/2 tsp
Green chilli – 1
Salt as needed
Cilantro for garnish

Directions

Soak the peas overnight.
Cook the peas with hing & salt in pressure cooker for 10-15 minutes in medium flame.
Take a pan and pour oil then add mustard & urad dal.
After the mustard cracks, add curry leaves.
Now add onion, green chilli and fry until golden brown.
Add mango and shredded coconut then saute for a minute.
Finally add cooked peas, salt and mix thoroughly.
Garnish with cilantro.
Serve the Sundal in a bowl.

Notes

You can add carrot also in this sundal.
