பனங்கற்கண்டு பால் (Panakarkandu Paal / Palm sugar milk)
Panakarkandu paal is a healthy drink. During my childhood days, whenever I get cold or sour throat, my dad prepares this for me. I like to watch while he is preparing this, with two tumblers making shh sound and the smell coming from that, tastes heavenly. Panangkarkandu have lots of medical benefits. It is one of the good remedy of chest cold. Palm sugar also boost the immune power, improves bowl moments and good for diabetes patients too. Turmeric and pepper are also good antibiotics. Taking this drink regularly gives better health benefits for longer term.
Ingredients for Panakarkandu Paal
Palm sugar (Panakarkandu) powder – 1.5 tbs
Whole milk – 1 cup
Water – 1/2 cup
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Peppercorns/ pepper powder – 1 tsp
Directions
Prepare Palm Sugar
Add the palm sugar into a mixie jar.
Blend into fine powder.
Prepare Milk
Pour milk and water in a pan.
Boil the milk until raise.
Crush the pepper in a mortar.
Add pepper powder, turmeric powder, palm sugar powder in a mixing bowl.
Pour the hot milk into the mixing bowl.
Transfer the panakarkandu paal between two vessels to reduce the heat enough to drink.
Serve the milk warm.
Notes
Grinding peppercorns gives fresh and strong, you may use pepper powder too.
Adjust the pepper and palm sugar level according to the serving person (this is kids version).
If you’re preparing this recipe with reduced fat milk, use 1.5 cups milk instead of 1 cup.
If your mixie jar is not so strong, crush the palm sugar in a mortar first then blend that in mixie.
