Masala Pori

மசாலா பொறி (Masala Pori / Kaara Pori)

Masala pori is quick and easy  snack prepared with puffed rice and veggies tossed with spices. This மசாலா பொறி is a healthy snack and good to have with tea or coffee. This is one of my favorite street food item. Whenever I visit T. Nagar in Chennai, I don’t forget to taste this in Ranganathan street.

Ingredients for Masala Pori

Main Ingredients

Puffed rice – 3 cups 
Onion – 1 (chopped)
Tomato – 1 (chopped)
Boiled peanuts – 1/2 cup
Carrot – 1 (shredded)
Mango – 3 tbs (shredded)
Green chilli – 1 (chopped)
Cilantro – 1 tbs
Boiled potato – 1 (cubed)
Mixture – 1/2 cup 
Lemon juice – 1 tbs

Spice Ingredients

Chilli powder – 1 tbs
Chaat masala – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
Black pepper powder – 1 tsp
Salt as needed 

Directions

Take puffed pori in a mixing bowl. 
Add all the ingredients except spices, cilantro and lemon juice.
Mix all the ingredients well.
Take all the spices in a separate bowl and mix well.
Add salt as per your needs.
Now drizzle the mixed spices with pori mix according to your taste and give a gentle mix.
Now squeeze lemon juice in the mixing bowl with pori and mix well.
Finally garnish with chopped cilantro.
Masala pori ready.
Serve கார பொறி in a bowl.

Notes

You may use fried peanuts instead of boiled peanuts.
Mixture is optional for this recipe.
You may add cilantro and lemon juice along with other ingredients at first itself.
