குலுக்கி சர்பத் – Kulukki Sarbath

Kulukki sarbath is a refreshing drink, prepared by heavily shaking a blend of lemon juice, basil seeds, sugar, salt and green chilli. This sarbath is originated from Kerala, it can be prepared in many different ways. Depending on our taste, add sugar syrup or nannari, ginger to the sarbath. Basil seeds reduce body heat, it can be used to treat digestion problems, acidity problems since it has cooling and soothing effects on the stomach. We can make  Kulukki sarbath with different flavours like rose, orange and pineapple.

Serves – 2

Ingredients for Kulukki Sarbath

Lemon – 1 big
Green chilli – 2 (slitted)
Water – 2 cups
Ice cubes – 1/2 cup
Basil seeds – 1 tbs
Ginger – 1 tbs (minced) optional 
Sugar as needed 
Salt as needed 

Directions

Pre-Preparation

Soak the basil seeds for 30 minutes.

Method 1

Take two glasses and pour water.
Add a slice of lemon in each glass.
Squeeze quarter of the lemon in to each glass. 
Add ice cubes, basil seeds(1/2tbs), salt, sugar, green chilli and ginger .
Close the glass with big glass / cup.
Shake well continuously for at least 10 seconds. 
Do the same to the next glass. 
Kulukki sarbath / Kulukki lemonade ready.

Method 2

Take a bottle with cap.
Add all the ingredients into the bottle. 
Close the bottle and shake for at least 10 seconds. 
Serve the Kulukki sarbath in glasses. 

Tips

You may use lime for the recipe. 
If you’re using small size lemon, take 2.
